JULY 6
706A I SEE WHAT YOU MEAN- A workshop that explains to general education and special education teachers the method for using visuals in the classroom. This will help reduce problem behaviors and to raise student achievement. Presenters: Ginger Murray and Lindsey Young, Level-PreK-6, Time: 10-12.

706B READY SET MOVE – A look at teaching multi-sensory learners. This session will provide the foundations and benefits of using a multi-sensory approach in the special education and early learning classrooms. Ginger Murray and Lindsey Young. Level-PreK-6, Time: PreK-3.

JULY 7
707A BUILD YOUR TEACHING TOOL KIT- Learn a variety of differentiation techniques, which allows students to be in charge of their learning. You will learn use new tools to manage flexible groups by teaching the class to self manage.   The tools will include learning menus, tic-tac-toes, Reading Management Tool Kits, project based assignments and more. JULY 8
708 A/B TIME TO THINK-As we move to STAAR students will need to be able to think by taking knowledge and applying it. Will your students be ready? This session will provide thinking activities, games, warm-ups, homework ideas, and parent involvement suggestions to get students thinking. Afternoon will include Make/Take It. 712A FABULOUS FOLDABLES-ADD TO YOUR LIST OF GRAPHIC ORGANIZERS- These are great with your ELL students and provide wonderful TAKS study guides. You will learn new ideas for print, cut, and fold organizers as well. Presenter: Lynred Hoepfner, All level, Time: 1-3.

712B MAKE and TAKE MANIA! Get ALL students motivated to learn and engaged in the process. Do you just need someone to give you time and motivation to work? Bring your ideas and materials to share. This is a workshop designed for you to work on ideas and the opportunity to make fun things before school begins. Participates will learn how to make hot dot cards, questioning cubes, and lots of cool ideas. Bring your laptop. Presenter: Lynred Hoepfner, All grades, Time 1-3.

714A SPEED DEMON/DEVELOPING READING FLUENCY …Reading fluency bridges the gap between word recognition and comprehension. Learn how to develop children's fluency by interactive read-aloud, reader's theater, and other fluency building activities. Activities will provide information on choosing appropriate texts, determining rate and accuracy, and ways to manage fluency.  Presenter: Becky Wilson, College Station ISD, Grades 1-3, Time: 10-12.

714B READING DEVELOPMENT THROUGH WORD STUDY -Research shows that vocabulary and knowledge of how words work have a direct impact on reading comprehension.  Learn strategies and activities that you can take back to the classroom and use to improve reading instruction.  Activities will include making words, word sorts, vocabulary building activities, and word hunts. Presenter, Becky Wilson, Grades 1-3, Time: 1-3.

719A LEARN ABOUT TEACHING TUBS-This session will focus on teaching with tubs-language arts, math, and science. What a great idea for students while you work with small groups. It even includes an assessment piece. Presenter: Lauren Julian, Level PreK-1, Time 10-12. 

719B MAKE AND TAKE BOOKS-Easy readers that students can make or you can make for you class library. During this session you will have the opportunity to make books for your students. Presenter: Lauren Julian, Level: PreK-2, Time 1-3.

720A/B RISING TO THE RIGOR-This session will help you with your lesson planning. Look at your data, match the TEKS for alignment, and develop the assessment all before you decide the activities for your students. Sound interesting? 721A/B GET THE PICTURE-Use great picture books to teach reading skills in your classroom. Do you want to find new ideas to teach characterization, inference, compare/ contrast, and other reading strategies? 726A LET’S LEARN BY COOPERATING- Research shows that cooperative learning is a key to student success and empowerment. Effective grouping is more than meets the eye. Maximize the effect of cooperative learning but finding the time is not always easy. In this session we will explore a variety of quick and easy ways to group students and establish roles. 726B GAMES FOR THE CLASSROOM-Come spend the afternoon playing games for your classroom. We will play whole class games, small group games, and partner games. This will give you great ideas for center games and allow you to demo games in the store. Come play and have fun. Presenter: Lynred Hoepfner, Any level, Time 1-3.

727A/B ARE YOU IN A RUT? It’s easy to get in a rut after years of dedication. Come network with teachers and get fresh ideas. During this session we will examine and practice strategies of active engagement, questioning, closure, grouping, checking for understanding, etc. Participants will have an opportunity to share their favorite teaching idea/strategy and complete make it/take it ideas. JULY 28
728A CHECK FOR UNDERSTANDING-How do you know if your students are getting it? This session will give you tools to check for student understanding and what to do if they do not get it.  Presenter: Lynred Hoepfner, Any level, Time: 10-12.728B I DO, WE DO, YOU DO Strategies for gradual release of learning from the teacher to the student. In this session we will learn strategies build your teacher toolbox as you give the responsibility for learning over to the students.  Presenter: Lynred Hoepfner, Any level, Time: 1-3.

730A/B MAKING MASTERPIECES-Whether you are a veteran or band new teacher you will enjoy learning about this new book, Making Masterpieces, The author will expose you to tons of new art ideas and materials for your classroom. The afternoon session will give you time to make examples for your classroom. The book will be available to purchase. Author presentation: 10-12. Make and Take from 1-3. 

AUGUST 3
803 A&B I GOT A JOB, NOW WHAT? Are you new to the classroom or coming back from a break? Often what you do on the first days of school will determine your success or failure for the remainder of the school year. We will examine what students and parents want/need and what the teacher needs to have ready to go. Presenter: Michelle Williamson, All level, Time: 10-3.

SUMMER PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT CLASSES RECEIVE CONTINUING EDUCATION HOURS. Lunch will be provided for full day participants, so come and enjoy the sharing ideas with educators from across the state.Cost per 2-hour session is $10 or $20 for a full day of fun and learning.
